Act IV starts out with macbeth going to see the witches. The witches tell him three things. "Macbeth! Macbeth! Macbeth! Beware Macduff! Beware the Thane of Fife. Dismiss me: enough." This obviously warns macbeth of macduff, however he ignores this message because of what he is told next. "Macbeth! Macbeth! Macbeth! Be bloody, bold and resolute! Laugh to scorn the pow'r of man, for none of woman born shall harm Macbeth." So after the witches tell macbeth he cannot be killed by anyone born by a woman he becomes arrogant. "Be lion-mettled, proud, and take no care who chafes, who frets, or where conspirers are: Macbeth shall never vanquished be until Great Birnam Wood to high Dunsinane HIll shall come against him." This says macbeth will never die until the woods come to his castle.
Macbeth takes this literally and believes his is invulnerable to all forces. "That will never be. Who can impress the forst, bid the tree unfix his eath-bound root?" He also asks about banquo but the witches dont tell him any more. Lennox tells him that macduff fled to england, and he assumes from here that he is a tratior. Ross questions Lady Macduff about Macduff fleeing the country and she calls him a traitor. "Where is your husband" (LMD) "I hope in no place so unsanctified where such as thou mayst find him."
Macduff fleas to talk to malcom to talk about the overtaking of macbeth. They get together and malcom is afraid of macduff not knowing his intentions. However macduff, ross, malcom, and members of the english army decide to dethrone macbeth.
